Vertu Ferrari

Vertu, the mobile of choice for lovers of luxury and high-performance, takes on a different dimension this month by collaborating with Ferrari to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Italy's finest motor car. The Vertu Ascent 1947 Limited Edition uses hand-polished titanium for the bodywork and the phone is sheathed in red and black Ferrari leather with black lacquer go-faster stripes. The design has been developed with Ferrari's own design team. The bezel nose features the Ferrari Prancing Horse and on the back plate is the distinctive brake pedal. Enzo Ferrari built his first iconic car in 1947 and in homage, there are just 1947 of these exclusive Vertu mobile phones, each one individually numbered. RRP is £4,300. The Ritz Club at Newmarket Races

For most of the last year, Newmarket has been quietly undergoing a £10 million redevelopment of its July Course which opens officially this month with The Ritz Club July Festival. The work has been one of the biggest investments on a British racecourse, concentrating solely on visitor facilities (Royal Ascot take note please). The trees, lawns, thatched roofs and the stands themselves remain - an intrinsic part of the racecourse's appeal. But there is a vast difference in the extra space and the appealing design and layout. An aerial walkway links new restaurants, bistros, bars and al fresco dining areas. A new conservatory, just a short walk from the Winners' Enclosure, becomes the Summer House Restaurant, adding to the summer garden party atmosphere that Newmarket is famous for. This year, the town itself is joining in the fun with late night shopping on the opening day and themed nights at major hotels. The Ritz Club July Festival includes live music, an eye-catching fashion scene, top horses, owners and trainers, and the major sprint race in Europe, the Darley July Cup. It lasts just about a minute but comes with a prize of £375k for the winner. Wednesday 11 - Friday 13 July. Visit www.newmarketracecourses.co.uk
