Beth Pollock is more than just a cook, a foodie and a smart caterer. Her company Food Glorious Food has come up with a terrific idea which no-one seems to have thought of before - the Rescue Pack, invaluable for families where moving home, recovering from an operation, or the arrival of a new baby throws the normal schedule into turmoil. There are two versions: the First Few Days Pack which has eight main courses for two people at £114, and The Home Coming Pack with 18 dishes for two people at £200. These are designed to smooth the first few days and weeks of your emergency by providing a freezer full of delicious home-cooked food in easy to access portions. You can expect nourishing soups like tomato, roast pepper and basil; salmon fishcakes; Moroccan lamb casserole; lasagne; boeuf bourgignon, chicken, mushroom and leek pie; essential fillers like creamy mashed potato, roast vegetables and tasty sausages glazed with honey and mustard. And to up the comfort factor there are familiar desserts like apple crumble, bread and butter pudding and tiramisu.

South-African born Beth Pollock is now based in London having trained at the renowned Ballymaloe cooking school in Ireland, and then practiced her skills as a private chef on a yacht in the Caribbean. After that, for 10 years she ran Finns, the seminal delicatessen and catering company in Chelsea, until in 2000, she set up her own company, Food Glorious Food based in Stockwell.

Her main business is catering for all the landmarks of normal life such as lunches, dinners, weddings, christenings, birthday parties, house warmings and funerals. As well as operating in some of London's grandest houses, her team has worked in unusual places like warehouses, art galleries, even an island on a lake or in a tent. Pollock can draw on very professional staff who do everything from answering the door and taking coats, to serving and clearing up so efficiently you wouldn't know they had been there.
